Italian Adventure ~ Murano

As I said in the last blog, we took another public transportation "bus line" (boat) to an island called Murano. Murano is known for glass. For glass blowing, specifically, and for the art they make with it.

Just a Venetian view from the boat

Waiting our turn to dock at the "bus stop"
Residential strip on Murano

They definitely get creative with their glass

Even this small island is separated by a canal or two

This glass mandolin cost 8,000 Euro! We were afraid to move in this store!

Murano clock tower with some glass art of course

We had to take this picture since we didn't get to see the glass blowing ourselves.

Apparently, late afternoon on a Saturday is not a good time for tourists to try and see the glass blowers. We were told they had gone home for the weekend. So unfortunately we didn't get to see what we really came to the island for. Oh well, I guess we'll just have to go back ; )

Florence coming soon!
